The backers of California’s high-speed rail continue to perpetuate the myth that if they build it, the money will come.
When voters in 2008 approved state bonds for part of the project, we were promised a $45 billion system stretching from San Diego to Sacramento. Today the price of just Phase 1, from San Francisco to Los Angeles, stands at $64 billion.
